Summer Slam 2020 is in the books and the card was loaded with a lot of potentially great matches.
Here is what I enjoyed (SPOILERS):
Asuka, Bayley, and Sasha: Asuka is just so dog-gone likeable, I could have probably watched her wrestle one more time and still had a good time. And the inevitable Sasha Banks and Bayley break up is reaching a nice boil. Two great matches and the table is set for more real drama this week.
The Thunderdome: The Amway Arena continues to just look sensationa as it’s Thunderdome alter ego. We’ve got our first class Pay Per View entrances back and the place continues to rock. It feels good to be back.
Sonya DeVille and Renee Young: Sadly, real life is taking them away from WWE. I wish the former continued healing from her terrible real life experience (story HERE) and I wish the latter a quick return to TV (story HERE). And I hope for the best for both. They make sports entertainment better.
Drew McIntyre continues to be a great and underrated champion: Drew remains so easy to root for and to have him get a dub over the villainous Randy Orton is satisfying. Probably because hero wins aren’t a sure thing against Orton and the match could have easily ended with a punt.
What an excellent weekend of wrestling we’ve had. And we’ve got more next week with Payback!
