The possession marker on Thursday Night Football looks like a minus sign

Well, I’ve been quite about this for a couple of weeks, but I can’t shake it. It bugs me every time I watch Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network.

Their possession marker on the score graphic looks like a minus sign.

It looks like the team that has the ball actually has minus points.

Example. If the Denver Broncos have scored 10 points and currently have the ball, it looks like minus 10 points.

Now, if you’ve watched the Broncos play this year, I wouldn’t rule out that team actually finding a way to get negative points but you know what I mean.

It’s just strange because TV producers are normally so cautious when it comes to clarity for their viewers. And the product is just so good otherwise.

I suppose they expect their viewers to be savvy enough to understand the game of football and comprehend you can’t get negative points, but it could still throw off some people that aren’t as familiar with the game.

Is this a big deal? Absolutely not. Should we be grateful that we’re even getting football this year? Absolutely yes.

And at the end of the day, you could just look at the action on the field and probably figure it out just as easily.

But I know I’m not the only one who has thought this.
