This week’s Friday Night Smackdown was stacked but before we go over a few of the highlights, the main story from the programming side will be Smackdown moving to FS1 next week in order to allow FOX to air game 3 of the World Series.
The move isn’t unusual. Smackdown did it last year a short time after it’s original premiere on the network.
As for this week’s show. The season premiere. Where to start?
The show wrapped with Roman Reigns getting Braun Strowman to pass out, further cementing his big bad status, which lead to Jay Uso coming out and another terrific sequence between himself and his cousin resulting in Roman being the last man standing. Those two will meet at Hell in the Cell in what should be a great match.
Bayley and Sasha continue to be the best thing going on WWE programming. The contract signing for their own match at Hell in the Cell resulted in another great promo from both superstars. It’s not completely crazy to say that Sasha’s role in this story, along with her upcoming appearance in The Mandalorian makes her one of the biggest stars in the company.
The New Day’s official farewell match as a trio hit a high note with social media. Lars Sullivan continues to fall flat with many of those same fans on social media. And the introduction of a Seth Rollins-Daniel Bryan feud has a lot of promise.
Not a bad show. Remember the programming change for next week!
