Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump, is in the headlines for the wrong reasons after her aggressive intervention into a conversation with foreign leaders at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.
It’s a mistake everyone eventually makes if you spend enough time at social events. You come in a little too fast and start talking a little too loud, and it makes everyone in that circle a little uncomfortable. In this instance, it was a conversation between primer ministers and presidents, she might have been out of her depth. Regardless of what you think of her dad, Ivanka is usually a little more careful than that.
Which makes me believe that she wanted that placement. She wanted to be in that picture with other foreign leaders discussing policy. It presents an image to voters that she’s a leader on the world stage, whether it’s true at this point or not.
The President hasn’t endorsed Mike Pence for 2024. This has lead to speculation that if he loses next year, he’ll favor his daughter for a 2024 revenge run for President instead of his veep.
It doesn’t have to be a run for the White House, it could be Senate, Governor, or a number of other things. And if her father’s popularity holds up in certain areas it could happen.
There was also a point in time when Trump himself was considered a punch line in politics. Look where he ended up.
The point here is that Ivanka isn’t out there doing these things for nothing. It’s in preparation for her own political career.
Next time, she just might want to wait for a larger window to enter the conversation.
