The University of Central Florida is putting out a call for recommendations for those who would like to be a part of it’s next search committee that will help select UCF’s next president (story HERE).
“I would like to give you — our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community — the opportunity to recommend search committee members who would best represent UCF and our values and mission as a leading metropolitan research university.” read the notice from the Chair of the UCF Board of Trustees
I’m telling you that if you care about this University, you should recommend someone. Even if you have to recommend yourself. If you think you can do the job, then go for it.
This is because we need passionate personalities on this board who can do their part to make sure the right person is selected.
The decision to accept recommendations is commendable, but I’m still skeptical.
You can have the same insiders trying to place their people on the committee. That’s where you come in.
We need to do our part to make sure that the University of Central Florida can get back in the headlines for the academic excellence we know they’re capable of over there. Not for spending controversies that have made them a target for politicians that aren’t even from here in recent months.
The official post is HERE. That’s where you’ll find the email to send out your recommendation.
I’ll be recommending myself. It’s unlikely I’ll be selected. I’ve been critical of how much the school spent during it’s last search only to select someone who was already on campus (story HERE). But hey, I’ll try.
If you don’t send out a recommendation then you’re taking the power to be critical of the process away from yourself in the future.
Go ahead and send in your recommendation right now and good luck!
