It’s not if, it’s when, recreational marijuana will be legal in Florida

Orlando super attorney, John Morgan is once again pushing marijuana, this time for recreational purposes. He published this tweet on Tuesday.

Morgan bankrolled the successful campaign to legalize medical marijuana in 2016. It passed with over 70% of the vote. It was considered “a lock” weeks before election night.

And it’s only a matter of time before its legal altogether in Florida. All of the signs are here.

There is the trend of legalization across the country. Colorado, Michigan, and Vermont, among others and here in Florida there is the shifting demographics, and the population surge from other parts of the county that would favor green lighting the drug.

We are also seeing decriminalization of small amounts of pot in municipalities around the state. Law enforcement officers and many local leaders are simply losing interest in tying up courtrooms and overcrowding jails with often youthful offenders over a few grams of weed.

Overall, we’re just seeing a relaxed position regarding the dangers of the drug. The culture is changing, and there appears to be an understanding that there are far more dangerous things to worry about.

There is one enemy that likely stands in the way of recreational marijuana. We know him well and we know how to spell his name.

We will see a fight from anyone that believes this is a serious threat to the tourism industry, and if the measure does pass, you better believe the legislature will keep the roll out away from anything that could harm Florida’s number 1 industry.

It might not pass on the first try or even the second, but eventually it will pass. We’re seeing all of the trends move in that direction.

It’s just a matter of when.
