Orlando Magic should take some chances in tomorrow’s NBA Draft

Your Orlando Magic, fresh off of their first playoff birth in years, will take part in the NBA draft tomorrow night, and after a responsible season that waded through several injuries, the Magic should take a chance on a wildcard that could take them to the next level.

Analysts say that the Magic, who have the 16th pick in the first round will select a shooter, either Nickeil Alexander-Walker (G, Virgina Tech, story HERE) or Romeo Langford (G, Indiana, story HERE).

What if instead, they put together a trade package for a veteran? Someone with championship experience. These mock drafts are projecting these picks as help for Markelle Fultz, who will be starting over with the Magic next year.

I’m making these recommendations because right now, it’s dull being a Magic fan. As the rest of the league either tries to make good with this incredible free agent class with players like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, or tries to reverse engineer a daring team building strategy like the Toronto Raptors, the Magic will likely be on the sidelines playing it safe.

That’s okay I suppose. Safe is what got us into the playoffs. Safe is what got us Steve Clifford. Safe might indeed be what it takes to get us to the next level.

But we could have a little fun along the way.
