In an excellent crossover at the intersection of both of their respective brand’s audiences, Stephen A. Smith of ESPN’s First Take posted this commercial that features himself in an ad for Spiderman: Miles Morales, a launch title for the Playstation 5 which was released last week.
Instead of describing it, I’ll show it to you.

Now we know.
And many of us new before. The Spiderman from an alternate dimension found mainstream success in the 2018 hit “Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse”. Morales has since taken his place next to Peter Parker as a Spiderman for the new generation. The amount of confidence Sony has in the character is evident in their decision to showcase him in one of the most important games of their new consoles history.
Then there is also the fact that a lot of ESPN viewers play video games and will easily pick up on a message they’re getting from someone they watch every morning. There are days when I’m doing both at the same time.
Finally, I love J.K Simmons but wouldn’t have Stephen A. made a perfect J. Jonah Jameson for the recent films? An actual journalist playing one of the most outspoken newspaper characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If there is ever another reboot, they know where to go.
