On Sunday afternoon, with almost the entire sports world watching, one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever pick up a football took the field with his new team to usher in an exciting closing chapter to his storied career.
And Tom Brady got beat by his future retirement home roommate and fellow future Hall Of Famer, Drew Brees.
The New Orleans Saints defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-23 and it really wasn’t even that close.
But, here is the thing. The Saints were supposed to win that game. Let’s not pretend like the Tompa Brady Bucs is a failed experiment already.
Still, as we like to do, the world is apparently ending and Tom Brady should just retire and tell his landlord, Derek Jeter, that his St. Pete home is no longer needed.
Let’s hold off.
Brady’s numbers? 22/36 for 239 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs including one ran back the wrong way to the house.
Not his best stuff. But the truth is that the Bucs are one of those teams that actually could have used a pre season. That’s a lot of new weapons to wrangle.
But as I mentioned before, the Bucs were supposed to lose this game.
The bad or good news, depending how you view it, is that the Bucs will be expected to win their next four games against the confused Carolina Panthers, generic quarterback number 2 and the Denver Broncos, San Diego “We just barely beat the Bengals” Chargers, and
Mitchell Trubisky Nick Foles and the Chicago Bears.
Those are games we’re going to need Tom Brady to win.
If not, then I’m sure you’ll hear all about it.
But after just one week, we should all just calm down.
