The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Arizona Cardinals at home on Sunday afternoon 30-27, to keep their hopes of going .500 in tact.
It wasn’t pretty, but with this team it never is.
Jameis Winston threw two interceptions and made some very daring passes that could have resulted in more. Ronald Jones lost a fumble without being touched by a Cardinals defender, and the Bucs defense still committed some penalties that could have been very costly down the stretch.
But hey, they won.
Let’s point out what they did right. Mike Evans continues to catch almost everything that comes his way. The defense continued their positive performance against the run, allowing less than 100 yards on the ground, and they put consistent pressure on Kyler Murray for almost the entire second half.
And Bruce Arians beat his old team.
Still, they’ve got to fix these same sloppy errors.
Tampa has got the Saints next week, but that tough New Orleans team all of the sudden looks vulnerable after a bad loss to the Atlanta Falcons today. Those same Falcons will host the Bucs the following week and the Jags will follow with a contest at their house.
.500 isn’t completely impossible for this Bucs team. We’ll just have to see.
