The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, 55-40, in a victory that demonstrates that when focused, this Bruce Arians team can compete with anyone.
Jameis Winston lead this team to a fast 21-o lead as he continues to improve under this Arians system. He once again threw for almost 400 yards resulting in 4 touchdowns and just one interception. Chris Godwin was supposed to be hurt and scored 2 touchdowns, and Mike Evans has four touchdowns in the last two weeks.
All of this on top of the fact that yes they scored 55 points on a fairly good Rams defense. And yes, that’s a team record.
Our problem with the Bucs for the second week in a row is that defense.
After getting exposed by Daniel Jones in his first start with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay got lit up again and allowed Lose Angeles to get within 8 points in the final minutes of the game. Luckily, Ndamukong Suh recovered a fumble and scored but that is too many points on the other side of the board.
The Bucs now roll to 2-2, but fans have a reason for hope. Especially as they head to New Orleans to face the Saints next weekend. They’ll be without Drew Brees and I believe this team can beat Teddy Bridgewater.
In fact, when you look at the next couple of weeks, Saints, Panthers, Titans, there is some reason for hope here.
This is a better team than last year and now the NFC champions are aware of this.
It’s time for everyone else to take notice.
