This afternoon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released 6 time Pro Bowl, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.
First off, good luck to McCoy. He’s been a bright spot on a Bucs team that hasn’t been able to find many victories in the competitive NFC South. McCoy was liked in the community and even featured on billboards here in Orlando for local hospitals.
He shouldn’t be out of work for long.
Here are a couple of rumored landing spots for McCoy:
New England Patriots: Veterans do well on Bill Bellichick coached teams, and McCoy would slide right in and make life miserable for quarterbacks in a division that is very inexperienced outside of Tom Brady.
Cleveland Browns: The Browns are going to be an exciting show this year, and the NFL agrees with me, scheduling them to several prime time games. McCoy would provide some defensive street cred for Cleveland in a division that also includes the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.
New Orleans Saints: Yikes, Bucs fans don’t want quarterback embattled quarterback, Jameis Winston, staring across the line from McCoy when he’s going to be looking to send a message to his former team.
Jacksonville Jaguars: This could be a needed fit for both parties. The Jaguars have proven to be both brilliant at times with exceptional secondary play, but at times also undisciplined. McCoy’s experience would be a welcomed addition to a team that was in the AFC championship game just one season ago.
