The Tampa Bay Bucaneers will try to move past a tough 2019 season that saw them go 5-11 with shaky play in almost every aspect of the game. New head coach, Bruce Arians, will try to turn around the Bucs as fans once again look to Jameis Winston to take this team to the playoffs for the first time in years. It won’t be easy, and it might be his last chance to win with the Bucs.
Rise in the NFC South and they could be on their way: The South is tough. You’ve got the Saints, who should have been in the Superbowl last year, along with the Panthers and Falcons, where coaching jobs are potentially at stake. If the Bucs can just split the series with their rivals, then they will have a chance to turn things around rather quickly. There are games against the Giants, Lions, Cardinals, and Titans that are all pretty winnable. This team can hit .500 if they play tough.
Winston to Evans: Mike Evans is still one of the best receivers in the league. If Winston can maximize Evans’ abilities than the Bucs are going to score some points. Also don’t forget about Tight End, OJ Howard who could also do some good things with the football.
Arians needs to give the Bucs the Cardinals “D” renovation treatment: Bruce Arians built a strong defense in Arizona with an especially tough secondary. He’ll have to rebuild the Bucs defense to keep them competitive.
Projected 2019 record: 7-9
The verdict: I like the Bucs under Arians. I don’t like them in this tough NFC South. They’re not going to make the playoffs this year, but maybe, if Winston can get going and the defense can improve, there could be some real hope in Tampa Bay for the first time in a long time.
