The start of these NBA finals are the wild spectacle and product we’ve wanted

Last night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Toronto Raptors in the second game of the NBA finals 109-104, to tie the best of 7 series at a game a piece. If you love basketball, you loved this game. If you’re not a big fan of the sport and happen to be flipping through channels you might have observed…

Former President Barack Obama getting a standing ovation in Canada along with “MVP” chants.

Music superstar Drake continuing his war of words with the visiting Warriors team wearing a “Home Alone” sweater trolling injured player Kevin Durant

Then if you happen to be on social media, you would have seen “Home Alone” star Macaulay Culking acknowledging the sweater and joking with Drake.

These aren’t huge incidents but that’s not what we want. We want the game to be the spotlight of the night. In that regard we had..

Boogie Cousins coming up big for the Warriors as he continues his return from injury.

The Warriors going on an 18-0 run in the third quarter after many analysts were already writing off Golden State at halftime.

Andre Iguodala hitting a wide open, game winning, three pointer to lock up the victory for the defending champs.

And this was just game 2.

We shouldn’t announce that the NBA Finals are back after some snoozers with the dominant Warriors against LeBron James quite yet, but having an inspired and hungry Canadian market with a music superstar jawing against future Hall of Famers, while a former American President enjoys the game and makes the rounds with other celebrities is exactly what the NBA finals needed.

My prediction was Warriors in 6 (story HERE), but honestly I want a seven game series now. We’re having fun and Wednesday can’t get here soon enough.

The NBA product is excellent right now and this is what the league should have been hoping for.
