Happy #NationalVideoGamesDay here are my top five favorites of all time

Today, is National Video Games Day. At least that’s what your social media trends are telling me. While I don’t have a lot of time to play games these days, I’ve been a gamer since the Atari 2600 and they’ve always been a fun way to just kill some time between events.

Here are my top five video games of all time (In no particular order):

Metal Gear Solid (1998): Yep, I can remember blasting the Foo Fighters while trying to steer Solid Snake through this action epic. The fight against a cloaked Gray Fox is still epic to this day.

The Madden Football Series (1988- ): Whether it was college dorms, army barracks, or house parties, there has been no other sports game that has been competitive as Madden. “I’m the king of Madden” are the last words some of my previous opponents have said before taking an “L” from me. Even after all of these years, I still won’t turn back a challenge.

Halo 2 (2004): I chose Halo 2 because that is where the multi-player really stepped up. This was before Xbox Live which meant me and my buddies had to connect our consoles with LAN cables. That was a good time there.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (2009): Still the best superhero multiplayer experience there is. So many playable heroes, the story is just cool (similar to Civil War). It’s a great button masher anyone can pick and a surprisingly difficult game to find.

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim: Sadly, the last game I bought at launch, but probably one of the most immersive experiences you can have on a console. If there is anything that could get me to buy another gaming system, it would be another Elder Scrolls game.

I know I’ve missed a couple. And really I could plug about two other dozen titles in here and be happy.

Have a great National Video Games Day everyone!
