Movie Trailer: Irresistible will try to bring the comedy to Wisconsin politics on demand this month

Just in time for the election season stretch, the new Jon Stewart film “Irresistible” is premiering on demand on June 26th. The film’s story which takes place in Wisconsin was was supposed to get a theatrical release but the Coronavirus pandemic pushed it online, like so many other movies this year.

The film which stars a heavy duty comedic cast including Steve Carrell, Rose Byrne, Mackenzie Davis, and Chris Cooper draws its laugh from a mayoral race in Deerlaken, where Cooper’s passionate farmer is the key to a Democratic comeback in the region lead by Carrell. The Republican National Committee gets involved and sends Carrell’s nemesis, played by Byrne, to keep the state red.

As I’m sure you know, Wisconsin will play a major role in this year’s presidential contest. Stewart, who hosted the Daily Show for years should be in familiar territory here. Most of the filming was actually done in Georgia.

And if this cast can’t make Wisconsin politics funny, it ain’t going to happen.
