On Friday, social media was buzzing when Donald Glover took to Twitter to deliver the following declaration on his excellent show “Atlanta”.
while im here: 'atlanta' s3+s4 are going to be some of the best television ever made. sopranos only ones who can touch us.

While those are indeed big words, we can’t take doubt Glover. The first two seasons about a group of friends trying to hit it big in the music business were wonderful.
And the second season of the show that also features stars Lakeith Stansfield (Sorry To Bother You, Knives Out) and Zazie Beets (Deadpool 2, Joker) were truly unique pieces of television. Stuff that hadn’t been done before and we can’t appreciate enough how rare that is in today’s world of reboots and re-imaginings.
The show proved it could be everything. A horror/thriller, a socially aware fable, and even a relationship drama. The only problem I can see about “Atlanta” is that is hasn’t been on in a long time because it’s stars keep finding success elsewhere.
Is it Sopranos level television? It’s really too early to tell, but it certainly could be when it’s all said and done if it keeps evolving and showcasing these terrific performances.
But first it has to return. And there hasn’t been any hard timelines set on that.
We’ll be there when it does though and hoping the best for Paper Boi.
