Harmful #stopDMCA or PLSA legislation poised to pass as part of Stimulus check package

Some bad news regarding legislation that could put streamers at risk.

The #stopDMCA legislation or Protection Of The Lawful Streaming Act has been added on to a massive $900 billion dollar bill that also includes the second pandemic stimulus relief package and everyone’s $600 checks.

It’s most likely going to pass.

It’s a dirty trick but not an unprecedented one. And it’s exactly why people don’t trust our politicians.

This bill was introduced less than ten days ago and rushed into law.

Our focus now has to shift to the way this bill is enforced. We’ve already discussed how ridiculous this legislation is to enforce (that post HERE).

We have to continue to look out for each other and ensure this legislation is not abused.

And if you believe it is, then we need to speak up.

We have been reassured by advocates of this legislation that individuals will not be the target. The problem is that there are too many “blindspots” that need to be monitored. Stay vigilant.

It’s unfortunate that these sponsors passed this bill with so little transparency and failed to hear their constituents concerns.

Senators: Thom Tillis (R-NC) Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), John Cornyn (R-TX), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Chris Coons (D-DE), Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), and David Perdue (R-GA).

Hold them accountable. And let’s move forward more determined than ever to protect our rights and continue to pursue what is a dream for a lot of us. Sharing what we love with the rest of the world without have to worry about our freedom being at risk.
