What a mess. That’s all we can really think at this point.
In what began as a wonderful and history making season of The Bachelor, with Matt James as the first black bachelor, we now have a questionable front runner and a once popular host who is on an indefinite hiatus.
Social media posts from Rachel Kirkconnell featuring the “old south” have brought her integrity into questions as she moves deeper into the season, and even an engagement, with Matt James. She has apologized but viewers aren’t satisfied.
Then there was Chris Harrison, who is usually as level as they come, botching an interview on the very topic that got the show into trouble to begin with. He’s stepping away from things.
This season was supposed to be different. Now a lot of viewers will say it’s tainted.
So how do we fix it?
Well, run the dog-gone disclaimer like I’ve said before. And do some repairs where you can.
And if that doesn’t work, maybe give Matt James another season. Or a feature on a different aspect of The Bachelor.
They’ve done this with Hannah Brown, who seemed to be on everything following her appearance and still pops up from time to time. Why not do this with Matt James to make this right?
It’s also important to know that ABC is still winning in all of this (story HERE). The Bachelor is a ratings and social media monster. This controversy is only throwing fuel into this inferno.
But it’s important for things to be done right in a way that allows fans to be happy when they turn off the TV. That will involve giving Matt James a fair shake.
