*Warning! The following contains spoilers for the latest episode of Wandavision!*
Wow. Episode 8 of Wandavision didn’t give us the forward movement we were probably looking for, but that’s because we had to go back and fill in the blanks over how Westview became the way it was.
And in the process they might have given us the best piece of acting we’ve seen in the MCU.
It’s true that the performances from Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Kathryn Hahn, have been the best parts of Wandavision. Along with some strong stuff from the supporting cast, but the big three really stepped it up this time out.
We got to see true grief from Olsen during her trip through time with Agatha Harkness, snarking and sneering the entire way. Her scene with Vision in the bedroom of the Avengers compound was lovely, and when she observed him dismantled on the table, that also hit home.
Just terrific stuff.
And I think we’ll find that while this was basically a set up episode, there was a lot of classic iconic material here as well. We finally got to hear “The Scarlett Witch” mentioned, and it looks like we’re getting the white version of Vision that many late Gen Xers and Millenials may have grown up with. And he looks terrific.
We also have to talk about that final scene. Hahn breaking down Wanda’s pure power and just wrapping it up to say…
“And you used it to make breakfast for dinner”
What great dialog.
We’re still waiting for our mega cameo, but I can be patient. Especially when we’re still getting excellent episodes like this one.
