The originally released version of “The Justice League” was an okay film. It wasn’t great. It wasn’t terrible. It was fine. Many people saw it as a missed opportunity and they were right. If you put some of the biggest comic book heroes in the same film, it needs to be spectacular.
Which is why we now have Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a product of the outcry made by fans of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, who have only had 1 indisputably good film in this new franchise to speak of (the first Wonderwoman if you’re wondering).
And this focused try by the original director is a better movie.
But man, is it long.
Most of it is indeed the same material we’ve already seen. Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader, Henry Cavill as The Man Of Steele, and Gal Gadot of course as Wonder Woman. The story goes as expected. You’ve already seen this.
This is just better than what you’ve already seen.
The entire Warner Bros franchise has always felt rushed. Snyder took his time here and it shows. With the extra content it is a more complete film. The emotional moments hit harder, and the action is filled out more. Most of it is well done. And there is the extra content which I won’t spoil that makes it even more enjoyable.
But like I said before. It’s four freaking hours long.
It’s a big ask of an investment in your time.
If by some chance you haven’t seen the original Justice League, watch this version instead. If you’re not a die hard of the comic genre, don’t rush it.
This is for the fans. And making something that should have been done right the first time, better on the second try.
And in that regard, it succeeds.
