Hawkeye: Spoilers, What happened to Yelena Belova during “The Snap”? And who is the big villain?
WARNING! THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS REGARDING THE LATEST EPISODE OF HAWKEYE ON DISNEY PLUS.
What happened to Yelena Belova during the Thanos “snap”? Yelena Belova, Black Widow or Natasha Romanoff’s sister, was a victim of the “blip” and disappeared from her friend’s flat for five years. When she came back, her friend had a family and her sister was dead.
Who is the big villain in Hawkeye?: As of episode 5, the big villain of Hawkeye is The Kingpin. Yes, that Kingpin. From the Netflix Daredevil series. This revelation at the end of the show of Wilson Fisk meeting with Kate’s mom, Eleanor (played by Vera Farmiga) hit’s especially hard because it opens the door to collaboration from other beloved characters from Netflix like Daredevil, Luke Cage, The Punisher etc..
And now let’s talk about how great Florence Pugh was in this episode: Yelena Belova, was just okay in “Black Widow”. There was a lot of story to tell there. But in Hawkeye, Pugh is a wonderful presence. And her scene with Hailee Steinfeld was two Academy Award nominated actresses playing off each other so well in the best part of this episode.
The MCU continues to payoff by stacking their lineup with A List talent. Even the TV shows are constantly bringing it (look at the Wandavision award nominations).
What does this all means for Spiderman No Way Home?: Well, everything is on the table now with the introduction of Wilson Fisk’s kingpin. We don’t know who is going to show up. It opens up to the film to a world of exciting possibilities and given the early reviews, it’s a great sign.
