Dexter New Blood: Hating Trinity all over again is a painful experience

In what was basically a breather episode of Dexter: New Blood, we did get another flashback. The Trinity Killer played by John Lithgow appeared on our screens once again, as Harrison told his father that he did indeed remember everything that happened the night his mother was killed in the most gut wrenching reveal of the series.

The fact that everyone hates Trinity so much is both a tribute the job Lithgow did playing him and to the writers for crafting a villain that this passionate fan base so charged up at seeing him again.

He’s one of my biggest all time TV villains. He’s up there with the Star Trek Borg, the Night King from Game of Thrones, and Meryl Streep’s Big Little Lies mother-in-law. When they appear, your blood pressure goes up and you want to strangle them on screen.

And we felt that tonight with a point of view shot of Trinity looking over baby Harrison. We don’t know if we’ll see him in anything new, but it won’t take away the pain we all felt with that haunting shot of Rita dead in the bathtub.

Other notes..

We got a cliffhanger ending as one of Kurt’s goons snatched Dexter in the parking lot. The teaser next week gives us Dexter running for his life. I’m hoping for more action. These last couple of weeks have been kind of dull.

Harrison is still acting like a brat and the fact he’s drawn to Kurt makes us like him even less. Maybe Dexter should have let that boy get back on the bus.

We’ll see you next week!
