While UCF is one of the biggest universities in the country when it comes to enrollment, and one of the main engines of the fastest growing community in the United States, its football program has always had to fight for its seat at the table. Even after going undefeated for the better part of two years.
That was evident today when “Central Florida” was trending today as the UCF Knights prepare to take on the Florida Gators in Tampa for the Gasparilla Bowl.
Their message to Twitter. “We’re UCF. Not Central Florida.”
National outlets including ESPN, who is covering tonight’s game regularly refer to UCF as “Central Florida” during their broadcasts.
At one point they were trending in the top ten.
