Here we are at the end of another year and as we continue down the golden age of television, where there is more strong content to watch than they are hours in the day, I had to pick some of our best.
It wasn’t that hard. All of these shows are winners with top notch talent and get my highest recommendations. That being said, this list also could have been 10-12 items long.
Succession (HBO): The cruel tutelage of Logan Roy over his four spoiled children continued this year in what was the third and best season to date. There was a birthday party we’ll never forget, and a scene that really demonstrated where the power was in this complicated but masterful story telling. It was top notch from beginning to end.
Maid (Netflix): There might not be a more real show on TV this year. And this story of a young single mom forced into homelessness after being a victim of domestic violence was painfully realistic. This is happening all over the country every day.
Ted Lasso (Apple TV): You’ve probably heard of the most feel good show on TV by now. Believe the hype. Ted Lasso, the story of an American football coach in England leading a soccer club got better in its second season. This show is special because it tries to inspire and actually succeeds.
What We Do In The Shadows (FX/Hulu): The vampire mockumentary did not have a bad episode this year. There were times when I was laughing so hard at what I couldn’t believe I was watching, and I know that’s exactly what was intended.
