American Auto: Pistachios in the break room and the “Fun Patrol”

Thank goodness! American Auto was back tonight after the Winter Olympics. And the team from Payne Motors picked up right where they left off after a problem involving employee morale forced Katherine (who puts the “cat” in “catastrophe” and the team to take action.

This lead to the creation of the “fun patrol”, the reading of employee emails, and Katherine bonding with “Barb” a needy employee that made herself right at home.

Worth noting that Barb was played by Martha Kelly, the big villain on Euphoria, one of the most popular shows on TV right now. Of course, she did a tremendous job.

The fun patrol then decided to throw an employee appreciation party and that went about as well as you think it would. Ultimately, Katherine was able to rally the troops. Kinda. Through straight up fear.

This show is still moving along nicely. The Sadie-Jack connection is interesting (drama wise, they’re relationship is a mess). And they appear to be moving towards a hostile board angle with Katherine, which is interesting and actually makes a lot of sense.

I’m happy this show is keeping the creative momentum going. The Olympics didn’t do this program any favors knocking them off of the calendar so soon after premiering.

It’s good to have them back.

See you next week!
