“Fresh” has arrived on streaming and you’ll never want to go on a date again

We’re only about two weeks past Valentine’s Day and if you’re like me, you’ve probably been rom-commed out. But “Fresh” arrives on streaming today, and the thriller will give you another reason to run away from the dating scene.

It’s also a really intense time. This movie is something else.

Poor Noa (Daisy Edgar Jones) she can’t find love and all of these dating apps are terrible. The guys she ends up with are absolutely bad people. She thinks she’s finally caught some luck when she meets Steve (played by Sebastian “The Winter Soldier” Stan) because everything seems perfect. But that wouldn’t make for a very good film wouldn’t it?

Turns out Steve wants to kidnap Noa, slaughter her and sell her meat and hair to satanic cannibals.

Edgar Jones and Stan are what we’re paying the price of admission for here. We feel genuinely sorry for Noa during this entire demented journey, and Stan has revealed yet another side to his range, adding to his “Avengers” heroics and Tommy Lee mania. Director Mimi Cave provides us with some visuals we can’t believe we’re watching at times. This is a wild experience. We don’t even get credits until we’re 33 minutes in, and some 80’s summer jams are thrown in, making the how environment even more bizarre. It’s entertaining as hell.

But make no mistake. This is not an easy watch. It’s rough.

This may scare away some squeamish viewers, and it might even upset some others. This movie makes some really bold creative decisions and it is a very difficult story to ummm digest. There is not a kind bone in it’s body. And when it’s over, you’ll need a moment to take it all in.

You’ll never forget it. For better or for worse.
