Goodness! It was great having Abbott Elementary back!
After what seemed like an eternity, the show returned from it’s 3 week hiatus tonight with an Open House episode. And of course, it was a fun (and dramatic episode).
Where to begin?
Let’s start with the headline. Our favorite principal, Ava Coleman, got a visit from the superintendent. You know, the one she was extorting in order to get the principal job to begin with. Well, he let Ava know that his mistress was now his wife, and that he was going to react accordingly to her behavior. The show actually ended with Ava singing “I’m goin down” by Mary L. Blige in her dark office as the credits rolled. A great way to wrap things up.
But let’s back up.
Janine had mixed results this week. She doesn’t have a good relationship with her mom, and has adopted Barbara as her mom. The problem is that Barbara’s real daughter was visiting and took up all of her attention.
She also took Greg (who was depressed that he lost his principal job to Ava) out on a date. Luckily, this freed up Barb to hang out with Janine.
Meanwhile, Jacob hustled Melissa and the janitor in poker. He’ll be looking over his shoulder for the time being. And how about his jump rope skills in the cold open?
The show hit all of the right notes as usual. What’s going to happen to Ava? Janelle James has taken this role to the limit. Could we see Greg take her job?
I already can’t wait until next week!
