The USFL prepares to take over Saturday night prime time on both FOX and NBC

The United States Football League is here. Our latest journey into the world of spring time football. And this operation is taking a more measured approach after the fiasco that was the Alliance of American Football, which couldn’t even make it through one season.

Our inaugural game is between the Birmingham Stallions and the New Jersey Generals on 730 est on NBC, their streaming service Peacock, and FOX. A very rare network multicast for the first game of this league.

The rest of the schedule per the USFL includes..

Houston Gamblers at Michigan Panthers: Sunday, April 17, noon ET (NBC, Peacock)

Philadelphia Stars vs. New Orleans Breakers: Sunday, April 17, 4 p.m. ET (USA)

Tampa Bay Bandits at Pittsburgh Maulers, Sunday, April 17, 8 p.m. ET (FS1)

Similar to what we’ve seen with other football leagues, the USFL will try to utilize technology to bring a fresher game to hungry audiences who are still almost five months away from NFL regular season action. This includes more cameras, drones, and mic’d up players. And for those interested, there is a gambling component.

The USFL is launching during a busy weekend with NBA playoff basketball, and AEW wrestling special, and Easter Sunday, but the opportunity to extend the marketability of a constantly hungry football market is too valuable to pass up on.
