Dodgers manager Dave Roberts catches the wrath of the internet following pitching rule goof

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, found himself trending last night on social media after he forgot a pitching rule in the closing moments of the Dodgers loss to the New York Mets, 9-4.

Roberts tried bringing in a position player to pitch the ninth inning but major league baseball rules prohibit using a position player to pitch with a deficit of five runs or fewer.

Umpires were late to make the correction, and a delayed followed as both fans and TV audiences were prepared to move on with their Saturday night.

And that frustration was aimed at Roberts as he found himself trending on social media well into Sunday morning.

And now, lets go to the tweets.

You’ll notice that some fans were also frustrated with commentator Gary Cohen criticizing Roberts as well.

What do you think? Should Roberts know about these things? Did you know about this rule before last night? Let me know in the comments.
