On Tuesday, Florida Department of Agriculture Commission Nikki Fried announced a new initiative that aims to tackle food insecurity among the state’s veterans.
Sadly, food insecurity among Florida veterans is real, as the financial challenges caused by the lack of affordable housing in the state, along with other unexpected challenges, often lead to financial strain.
I know. It’s happened to me. Any resources used to prevent food insecurity among our bravest brothers and sisters is a step in the right direction.
“Establishment of the FDACS’ Veteran Nutrition and Wellness Awareness Initiative will help educate veterans and their families about the range of nutritional resources and programs available to them. Our veterans have made great sacrifices to protect our country, and their access to healthy, nutritious food should never be in question.” said Fried in her announcement
