MLB: Houston Astros World Series Championship tells everyone that cheating is okay
On Saturday night, the Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in game 6 of the World Series to claim this season’s Major League Baseball crown.
If you refuse to congratulate an organization that has cheated to win in the past and not issue so much as an apology to the sport, and all of the fans of the sport that they ripped off in doing so, then you’re not alone. I’m there with you, and so are other legions of people that enjoy this wonderful sport.
But the truth is that a Houston Astros World series win is the latest failure in Major League Baseball.
While they’ve tried to shore up the sport by making it faster and more digestible to an audience that has to be constantly stimulated by the screens of their phones, they’ve also demonstrated to younger fans that cheating is okay. Even if you get caught, you’ll be back on top in no time.
Its what the Houston Astros did. Its a model that will be emulated for the foreseeable future. Cheat. Just don’t get caught. And if you get caught, show absolutely no remorse.
That’s the Houston Astros way. And its also become the way of Major League Baseball.
And fans should swat down any calls to dismiss the cheating past of the Houston Astros. We don’t allow our school students to graduate if they cheat on their exams. We don’t allow our work professionals to cheat on their service or product.
Major League Baseball. At the end of the day. Is a product.
And in 2022, they’ve delivered us a dishonest champion.
