This blog doesn’t normally cover Yellowjackets, but this bit of advertising was so clever, I just had to blog about it.
Ahead of its season 2 premiere, the Showtime drama employed the old MTV News spot from the 90s to portray the search for the missing soccer team. It features MTV news lead anchor, Kurt Loder, as well as the traditional graphics all of us Gen Xers will remember.
It even goes so far as to include a link to a 90s webpage wherearetheyellowjackets.com as well as other stories such as the rise of mad cow disease and a shoutout to Alanis Morrisette at the height of her record breaking “Jagged Little Pill” album.
Even the record scratching cut away is included (which I was waiting to pounce on if excluded). Incredible stuff.
