The Bachelorette: The date in the bayou ended up being meaningless

Wow. Great show.

Fueled by a return to it’s rightful 8pm est slot, The Bachelorette gave us a memorable outing before it’s hometowns episode next week, as Charity took her remaining potential future husbands out in New Orleans.

But if we’re being completely honest, this episode of The Bachelor probably could have been only a half hour long.

That is because the second date of the show ended up not meaning a thing.

And of course, I’m talking about the bayou cruise showdown between Tanner and Sean, two guys that were still in the field despite never having a one on one date with Charity.

Don’t get me wrong. It was still good television and the date gave us another franchise cult favorite in Captain Tom the swamp boat captain but when Claim to Fame came on, neither Tanner nor Sean were still with us.

Sean would get frustrated by Dotun returning with a rose on his second one on one date of the season, and end up getting thrown off the show by Charity minutes later.

And the Cinderella story of the season, Tanner, who many viewers didn’t even remember was still on the program made it a step further before ultimately being sent home in the final minutes.

Don’t get it twisted. This is not a complaint. In fact, I found myself rooting for Tanner pretty hard going into the last 30 minutes. He seemed like a pretty nice guy and exited with class when it was finally time.

Not that it matters, but if there were an elimination in that date you would have let him survive anyways.
