Meal delivery has become a regular part of how we consume casual/fast food but anyone who uses the service understands its not cheap. Quite the contrary. It can get pretty pricey.
And on Halloween afternoon, customers took to social media to vent about the prices on Door Dash, along with the tipping practices involved with their deliveries.
They began trending with many customers and drivers arguing over what they paying how much the tip should be with each delivery.
doordash, uber eats, instacart, postmates — these are all LUXURY services. you are paying a higher rate and expected to tip because you are getting a service designed for convenience. you are making a human being be at your beck and call for pennies. the least you can do is tip.

DoorDash could always just adequately pay their drivers but why do what makes sense lol

DoorDash trying to get you to add a tip, knowing they only offer the drivers $2 to deliver to you no matter how much money they just charged you https://t.co/GBXZJvEC1s pic.twitter.com/TSXGvv0ax5

Doordash charges the restaurants a fee to be on the platform, charges ME a fee to deliver the food. So I’m trynna figure out why they can’t pay the dasher a living wage https://t.co/FMrSeY0UQF

We need to go after @DoorDash instead of each other. This is all their greedy ass fault that customers don’t/can’t tip because we’re paying $20 in “service fees” and the driver only sees 2 of those dollars. We need to focus on the root of the problem, rapacious ass corporations. https://t.co/TY227IbcO8

Tipping for DoorDash actually makes more sense than tipping restaurant workers to me. That person sat in line for you then walked up to the third floor of your funky ahh apartment. Give ‘em a dollar or two or just go get it yourself lol https://t.co/TUtjN90k95

If you don’t tip your DoorDash driver knowing they only get like $3 per order you’re a piece of sh*t. But also, DoorDash should be paying its employees more https://t.co/XZPZhItEgX

All this and DoorDash just has to pay them a livable wage like … https://t.co/H8GsowMZ7J

Posting this in response to DoorDash increasing tip incentives is truly one of the most out of touch and childish things I’ve ever read.
“Broke as shit but need my food prepared and delivered by other people” https://t.co/YDY3ZNfYMG

I mean you should tip… but maybe DoorDash shouldn’t take such a huge portion of the profit from the driver..?? Also I’ve tipped WELL before and still had my order not show up or it came 2 hrs later and DoorDash doesn’t do shit to refund you for it. https://t.co/pQBxVfPHRW

What do you think? How much do you tip your meal delivery driver? Do you believe that drivers should get paid more? Is tipping now out of control? Let me know in the comments.
