Magic The Gathering: Bloomburrow Commander Party Rules Are Wild
This week, I had a chance to really dig into the Bloomburrow release from Magic The Gathering with a Bloomburrow Commander party event, which looks to highlight these adorable but also fierce creatures.
The rules involved were crazy.

Everyone chooses an Animal Party with a card that describes their benefits. We’ve got Racoons. Frogs. Lizards. All of the creature types that we’ve seen from Bloomburrow. Each faction has strength, weather it’s creating different types of tokens, or life gain.
You know I”m mono red, and there is a burn flavor to the Lizard faction.
Then there is this season wheel. Each part of the wheel has an effect on the game that takes place after a coin toss.
If the player wins their coin toss before their turn, they can implement the effects of their party. Like the lizard, which causes it’s owner to gain three life while others lose three.
A player at my table compared the Bloomburrow Commander Party rules to planesdrifting or planesshifting.
Of course I didn’t win, I seldom do, but the big factor with these rules was being able to join an animal faction that compliments the way you play the game.

There are animal cards that can greatly benefit a life gain deck. Others that will create more creatures. If these rules and effects take place at the right time, it truly can be the difference between victory and defeat.
The Bloomburrow release has been fine. It hasn’t been as cool to mono red as I like, but the art on these cards are terrific and its a fun switch up.
