Fight Night Million Dollar Heist: 5 First Impressions

The post Ali win monologue was some of the best I’ve ever seen from Don Cheadle: Detective Hudson slowly warming up to Muhammad Ali is a rewarding journey, including when he starts cheering for him during the fight. The monologue we hear Hudson give about his segregated high school football team winning an underground game against their more privileged peers is good stuff. Some of the best I’ve seen from Don in the decades watching him.
The team up montage is the best since Ocean’s Eleven: They’ve even got their own robbery specialties just like Danny Ocean’s guys. Fun fact: Don Cheadle was part of his crew too, as Basher the demolitions expert.

The Chicken Man longjohns joke: Its a shame that more people didn’t notice Chicken complaining about having to wear long johns on fight night, and then being the only one wearing them in the basement stripped down with the others.
They’re not rushing our Empire reunion: They’re making us wait for Lucious and Cookie to trade lines. Cadillac and Viv haven’t spoken yet. Nor have the two War Machines for our Marvel fans.

Dexter Darden doesn’t nail the greatest one’s voice but wins us over anyways: There was some criticism online that Darden’s voice isn’t good enough here. But the in ring action and the heart he brings to the role when on screen with Cheadle still makes his time enjoyable.
