28 Weeks Later, the scariest of the lore so far, arrives on Paramount Plus in time for Halloween

Yeah, I’ll say it. 28 Weeks Later is a scarier film than it’s older brother, 28 Days Later.

It may not be the actual better film of the two, but when it comes to frights, ‘Weeks’ has the edge.

And now, you can find out for yourself as it arrives on Paramount Plus just in time for Halloween.

The 2007 film, now has what is considered an all star cast, with Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne, Idris Elba, Imogen Poots, and Robert Carlyle all putting in some great work. The plot picks up weeks after the original film with humanity trying to keep a grasp on the rage virus that turns it’s infected into highly contagious screaming monsters. Even a drop of infected body fluid can turn a person.

It’s a scary film for sure. From the chaotic opening sequence to the memorable finish, it’s a scramble for life. While ‘Days’ invests a little more into emotion and character building, this film is just a straight up run for your life where no one is safe.

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo gives us a more frantic pace than the Danny Boyle original, while not sacrificing too much substance. It’s also fun watching this movie 17 years later and realizing how far the cast has come.

If you’re looking for drama, it’s not superior to ‘Days’ but it’s not a vapid endeavor at all. ‘Weeks’ thrives in a scarier and more disturbing experience that offers a different kind of payoff.

The 2000s were slammed with great zombie movies, but 28 Weeks Later isn’t a bad way to go at all.
