Intro: One mana cards for mono red don’t always come through. Most of the time if we’re trying to burn, a one drop will usually chip in a point of damage or two which is only good really early in the game, or as a last push towards a kill shot. Prophetic Ravings, is actually a pretty good one red mana card that can come in handy when you need it most.
What the card actually says:
Enchant Creature
Enchanted creature has haste and (tap), discard a card, draw a card.
“Keep your herons and shrews! You will find nothing in the moon, for the moon is a lie. It has told me so!”
Analysis: Sheesh. That quote sounds like some of my relatives at Thanksgiving after a couple of drinks. Anywho, the way to go with Prophetic Ravings is to give one of your big boys haste when its time to put them on to the battle field. A good example would be a big scary dragon or dinosaur, who are often expensive and don’t have haste because of the potential damage they could do to a player. And we also have to look at the draw power. If you’re mana starved, put this cheap enchantment on any creature you can pull and start tapping it to get some lands. All of the low, low price of one mana.
How it feels when you play it: Oh, its great when you’ve got bad game changing creature in your hand and your tapped out opponent thinks he’s safe. He’ll be the one cursing the moon after you play this card.
Conclusion: This card is too cheap not to play. Throw it in your deck and when you need some creatures in a hurry, you’ll be glad you did.
