Dexter Resurrection: Bringing back Harrison is an awful idea

As you may have heard by now, Dexter Morgan, our favorite serial killer of serial killers is not dead. And we’re getting Dexter: Resurrection that will bring back some main cast, including Michael C. Hall as our title character, David Zayas as Angel Batista and James Remar as Harry Morgan.

And yes, Jack Alcott, as Harrison Morgan.

This post shouldn’t be interpreted as a diss on Alcott. In the awful Dexter: New Blood, he did as he was written. He was obnoxious and got in the way of screen time for characters that we actually cared about.

But Harrison Morgan is a really unlikable character, and I’m confident that a lot of Dexter fans would feel the same way.

It’s still early, and we still have another Dexter show, Dexter: Original Sin playing out on Showtime. But Dexter showrunners need to take a good look at what actually worked. It’s getting to the point that the bad is outweighing the good.

They need to focus group Harrison Morgan and be sure that they’re not actively taking steps to sabotage yet another attempt to try to keep this franchise going.

The problem they’ve been having is that they’ve forgotten what we really enjoy from this show. It was the suspense. Watching Dexter sneak around and try to conceal this double life. How that would play into a new show where everyone already knows who he is, moves into unknown territory.

But I can tell you, it’s hard to determine how a whiny Harrison, who for all intensive purposes ruined the last series, is going to help.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
