USPS can’t leave Georgia veterans without timely prescription delivery

Some serious concerns coming from Georgia regarding mail service to veterans in the region. These services include delivery of prescriptions and appointment notices to our brothers and sisters who served.

Georgia Senator Jon Osoff during an interview with local media said..

“So I have opened this inquiry with the VA to ask the postmaster general what steps he is taking urgently, right now to make sure veterans aren’t being denied health benefits and prescriptions that they need because of failures of USPS,” Osoff said (story HERE).

The Georgia senator also mentioned that veterans were getting appointment notices after the appointment had already passed. This aside from the late prescriptions is just as serious of a problem. Depending on the area you’re from, veterans could find themselves waiting weeks for an appointment, and if they miss that first appointment, it could be another few weeks before their able to be seen. Late notices and missed appointments hurt veterans and also hold back staff from seeing even more of us.

Returning to the original subject of prescriptions, veterans, especially our senior veterans need their medications just like all of the other seniors in our life. These prescriptions deal with everything from pain management, to keeping dormant symptoms at bay.

We must monitor this situation in Georgia and ensure that we’re being vocal with our lawmakers when it comes to the delivery of these medications and notices. If you or another veteran you know are getting these items late, then call your elected officials and find out exactly what’s going on.

Because if it’s happening to you, it’s happening to our other brothers and sisters in the area.
