Packers should join fight against Human Trafficking ahead of NFL Draft
Human trafficking is a problem during major events. It’s the tragic reality of our society that when there are large concentrations of people in a location, parasites will try to take advantage of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Which is why I was encouraged to see Brown County throw in $20,000 to fight against human trafficking ahead of the NFL draft, which is taking place less than a 100 days from in this very community.
There are now calls for the Green Bay Packers to contribute to the fight (story HERE).
We love the Packers. And I’m actually surprised that they’re not leading from the front on this. Because this is the dark shadow that operates over world class events like the draft.
Originally, I’m from Orlando. The biggest tourism destination in the country for families, and second to only Las Vegas when it comes to convention business. I was still on the ground there when the community took a stand and now remains vigilant to look out for the signs of human trafficking that can at times be subtle. With victims cooperating with their captors over fear of retribution.
They’re held hostage in plain sight. That can’t be allowed to happen here during the draft.
The Packers should match the contribution and start a digital campaign emphasizing the organization’s actions to combat these crimes before the perpetrators even consider bringing their crimes against the innocent to our community.
Green Bay is a wonderful community. And both the community and it’s world famous NFL franchise should be united against human trafficking.
