Special Forces World’s Toughest Test: Why the hostage rescue challenge was unfair

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test can’t be an easy show to produce. There has got to be more moving parts than you or I could possibly fathom, with explosions, vehicles, and the egos of these celebrities, all in constant play.

But they really do know how to grind my gears at times. And it’s always the staff they use as a transmitter for those frustrations.

Specifically, I’m talking about the rescue challenge from this week’s show, where the celebrities have to enter a compound with a picture of a hostage and rescue that hostage before the place exploded.

Many of the stars did just that. But staff failed them.

“Why?”, well that’s why you’re here.

Because there was more than one hostage in the compound and the stars were supposed to rescue everyone.

They were not told they had to rescue everyone. It was implied.

If you’re reading this and believing that saving everyone is common sense, then you’re right. The compassion instilled in our existence as the smartest beings on this planet verifies that.

But in the military, and on this show, you follow instructions. About 20 minutes ago, they were shouting at people for not doing the exact number of calisthenics requested, and now they want some Disney channel stars to turn into Indiana Jones in the last 20 minutes of “Temple of Doom”?

I don’t know man. What if those extra people in there were meant to throw us off guard?

All of this is of course splitting hairs. I care enough to write about it. That means Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is still doing plenty to keep me watching.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
