Paradise: After Billy episode, we have to consider that Xavier’s wife is alive
Goodness. “Paradise” showed us that they sure know how to twist the knife after episode 4. Or the “Billy” episode. They told us the story of Agent Billy Pace and his sad upbringing, postured him as the hero, then had him poisoned by his girlfriend, Jane, after the carnival. It hurt to watch. And we fully understand what kind of person Sinatra is now.
But the death of Billy wasn’t even the most important part of the show.
What was important is that we learned that the surface is still livable and that life is quite possible. Sinatra has her ideal civilization under that mountain and that’s all that matters to her. She will do anything she can to protect it.
Still, you can’t watch this show and not believe that Xavier’s wife isn’t alive.
All we know is that she didn’t make her plane and that life is possible on the outside. Those are all of the pieces we need for a late season reveal.
The big decision for showrunners is to determine if that’s the case that would make for the best television show. Bringing back Xavier’s wife from the dead would be terribly predictable.
Aside from resurrection, we also have to talk allies. Xavier has none. With Billy gone, so is the muscle. Torabi may be an ally, but she’s not going to protect Xavier.
And we also still don’t know who killed Cal. If it wasn’t Billy, someone must have gotten the jump on him. Otherwise there aren’t too many people that could have just overpowered him like that.
