Illinois Governor jokes he’s going to annex Green Bay, change name of Lake Michigan
Because the state of Illinois apparently doesn’t have enough challenges, with rampant gun violence and a housing crisis in Chicago alone, the governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, published a joke video to social media on Friday afternoon, stating that he was going to annex Green Bay.
The original intention of the video was to riff off of President Donald Trump’s intent to rename the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America, and to purchase Greenland. In the same video, he announced that Lake Michigan would become Lake Illinois.
But the Governor couldn’t help himself, and decided that our community had to “catch a stray”.
As if there isn’t enough of a risk of that happening if you’re taking a stroll down the south side of Chicago.
“Illinois will be annexing Green Bay, to protect itself from enemies foreign and domestic” Pritzker says.
He closes with “God Bless America and Bear down”.
I agree with the first part.
While the Governor won’t be subjected to the same kind of roasting that we are at the hands of his platform as an elected official, he should know an important point.
A lot of Chicago natives have relocated to Green Bay already. And at this point “The Windy City’s” chief export to our area appears to be illegal narcotics.
Maybe we should send the Wisconsin National Guard down south to protect our state’s border.
Anywho, we’ll still welcome our Illinois neighbors when we host the draft in a couple of months.
The Chicago Bears will once again have a high pick. And as the only team from the NFC North to not make the playoffs, will get to carry that distinction when they visit.
Who knows? They might love our community so much that they might decide to stay like so many before them have.
