Why Green Bay losing a GameStop is a big loss for not just gamers
Green Bay has lost a Gamestop. The location on Lime Kiln road in Bellevue is closed (story HERE). There are only two stores left in the Green Bay market. The location on West Mason by Wal Mart, and the store inside of the Bay Park Square Mall.

While you may not play video games, it’s still a loss for the community. We want businesses to open and expand here. We don’t want them to close.
And if you are a video game player, this is a really big deal. While physical media is going the way of the dinosaur, you still need consoles. You still need controllers. You still may need a gaming necessity at the last minute. Now, let’s not pretend that the drive from the east side to Ashwaubenon or the west side is a timely trek. It’s not. But it does mean we’ve lost 33 percent of our regional inventory from our most substantial gaming source.
In other words, there is going to be less of the on demand stuff to go around.
And this is a business loss for Green Bay. We’ve already lost Bellevue, but I’ve had some friends work for Gamestop in all three locations.
Gamestop corporate leadership is often cited as being truculent and difficult to communicate with, by employees.
Property management at the sites here in Green Bay are deaf to the needs of the store. We’re talking about repairs not being made to plumbing, electricity, and security.
So, while many of you will shrug at a store closing that you never use, best believe one of these times it will be a retail source that you actually use, and you’ll feel the pinch then for the same reasons. We all will.
