Million Dollar Secret: For Lauren, honesty wasn’t the best policy

Million Dollar Secret is off and running on Netflix, and the we’ve had three people go home. All of them due to the direct actions of one person.

I’m talking about Lauren. And you might agree, that if she didn’t do one thing, she’d most likely still be competing on the new Netflix reality program.

She told the truth.

While admirable in real life, honesty is indeed the worst policy when it comes to competing on reality television. You lie. And you lie often. There have been a platoon of D-list reality celebrities that have made a small fortune off of doing so.

Lauren confessed after the first two eliminations that she was the secret millionaire. There really was no coming back from that.

It’s like there was a murder at a party. You confessed to doing it and you’re demanding for the music and food to continue. It’s just not possible.

She proved to the remaining players, that not only could she lie, but she could do so convincingly and also carry out the secret agenda, which Phil, the following millionaire decided not to attempt.

And because of the way the game is designed, there was no reason to vote out the current millionaire because you would risk being wrong again and send home another innocent person. Every time a player with an empty chest is eliminated, the cast looks stupid.

So, they did the next best thing. They sent home a person they knew had already been guilty of lying.

To her credit, Lauren did demonstrate some kind of integrity. She was obviously feeling bad over what she did. And that has to stand for something.

But rarely does it translate to victory in reality television.

What do you think? Did Lauren do the right thing? Let me know in the comments.
