“A Working Man” dethroning “Snow White” at Box Office underlines botched Disney promotion
You can imagine the jokes on social media now..
“When I went to see ‘A Working Man’ there were a dozen kids in the lobby dressed as Jason Statham. I knew the film couldn’t fail”
Of course, we’re talking about the Statham action movie, in its first week, dethroning Snow White, with a modest $15.2 million, while the live action Disney remake fell short by a million (story HERE).

While Rachel Zegler doesn’t bother me as much as she bothers other critics of the movie, I believe her remarks calling the original Snow White story “weird” doomed the film at the box office. The classic Disney tale has generations of fans, and by standing up that barrier, she pushed a lot of would-be viewers away.
Disney didn’t take enough corrective action. And here we are.
A week ago, you could have argued that Snow White could have had a long run in theaters and might have been able to make up some ground with the lack of competition.
Well, Jason Statham wasn’t supposed to competition. And now the story isn’t so much about “A Working Man” as it is about a further Snow White collapse.
I’m happy for Statham. Someone I’ve been watching for 24 years since “Snatch”. He makes a decent movie. While they won’t win any awards, seldom are they actually bad.
Sadly, for his “Fast and The Furious” universe co star, Gal Gadot, she’s also taking an “L” this weekend. I’m hoping she can rebound from this and make another winner soon.
But, words promoting a film matter. You can’t call customers “weird” and expect them to pay $15 for a ticket to come and see you.
