Our latest trip to the White Lotus is complete, with the third season coming to a bittersweet conclusion over the weekend.

The death reveals and character wrap-ups are always controversial, and what better ways to fan the flames of controversy than to call some of your favorite characters “winners” and “losers”.

Winners:

Belinda and Zion: They walked in with little. And walked out millionaires. It’s that simple. Viewers were wise to point out that Tanya did the same thing to Belinda. And the happiness we got from seeing them sail away was undeniable.

Greg/Gary: Secret protected. He gets to keep watching his girlfriend hook up with other dudes and is still wealthy.

Jaclyn, Kate, and Laurie: They arrived as friends. And arguably departed as better friends. Yes, they fled a shooting, but we saw three grateful people leave the island.

Gaitok: All he had to do was shoot a guy in the back while he carried away his dead girlfriend. Now he gets the job he always wanted, with the girl of his dreams. The late, great Tom Petty once told us “even the losers get lucky sometimes.”.

Losers:

Romantics: Rick and Chelsea are dead. And they didn’t have to be. Chelsea was such a sweet girl, but like we see so many times in real life, a damaged guy can result in tragedy.

The Ratliffs: They’re all losers. But only Timothy knew it as they left Thailand. We still love our girl, Victoria though.

Amrita: Mike White said himself that if Amrita had stopped to talk to Rick, the shootout could have been prevented.

My personal favorite character: Laurie. My twenty-something crushes Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan can’t be ignored, but Carrie Coon is one of my favorites working today, and despite a pretty epic resume, she remains underrated.
