The Four Seasons: S1E8 Fun Recap

Here we are at the finale of The Four Seasons, as we wrap up Winter following the shocking events of episode seven which you can read about HERE.

What Happened?: With out friends checking into a Courtyard Marriot we learn that the episode title “Fun” is actually an abbreviation for funeral, in this case Nick’s funeral. The group struggles with planning as Jack fails to talk the funeral home down from costs and Ginny insists on being a big part of the ceremony.

The next day at the funeral home, because of the Kate’s eventual cost cutting, the ceremony is crammed into the “bereavement zone” and she also has to tell Ginny Anne has not allowed her to speak. To make matters worse, Nick’s remains have been put into an urn shaped like a red high heel shoe. Anne also gets flustered during her remarks and tries to pass off the duties to Claude instead of Ginny. When they return to the house, Ginny takes the group to task for the bad service. When Ginny doesn’t return to the rural home (where the first episode takes place) after dark, the group begins searching for her. Danny shouts at Claude for suppressing his depressed feelings. And Jack and Kate mistakenly walk out on the frozen lake and Kate falls through.

Back at the house Anne spots Ginny on the porch and the two reconcile. At the lake, Jack and Kate work together to roll off the lake, and we also learn Claude finally finished the Napoleon book. They all mourn Nick off of the lake before heading back to the cabin. Kate confesses to Jack that he’s her soulmate. While cooking, Danny discovers an old picture drawn by Lila that calls her dad a butterfly. At dinner, the group invites Ginny on their next vacation, while toasting and taking a shot, Ginny does not partake and the Anne announces she’s pregnant before the credits pop for the final time

Quotes:

(Anne to the hotel check in lady)

Anne: “And now I’m planning a celebration of life ceremony for someone that did not want a life with me. And here is the kicker. The tween he left me for is coming over to help me plan said funeral.”

(Responding to Claude’s theory about Nick caring about butterflies)

Danny: “Of course not, he wasn’t a nine year old or Mariah Carey, he didn’t give a f**k about butterflies.”

Claude: “Yet how ironic he has now become one.”

Trivia and Tie-ins:

We finally get the completed graphic of all four seasons with a butterfly flying away from winter. Claude later explains that the butterfly is Nick.

At the last dinner, Anne and Ginny are dressed similar and look alike.
